On Wednesday 8th May 2025, homes across My Choice Healthcare joined in marking the 80th Anniversary of VE Day — a day of remembrance and reflection for the end of World War II in Europe and the enduring spirit of those who lived through it.
Care homes honoured the occasion with a range of activities including garden gatherings, afternoon teas, wartime music, and shared stories. Across the organisation, residents, family and staff came together to reflect, connect, and celebrate the resilience of the WWII generation.
At Springfield Care Home, a special BBQ garden party took place, welcoming residents from Lux Ros and Victoria House who joined for an afternoon of music, conversation, and community spirit. Meanwhile, other homes marked the day in their own unique and meaningful ways.
“It was a day to listen, remember, and honour the remarkable lives of our residents,” said one staff member.
Photos from Springfield, Glyncornel, and Alexandra House offer just a glimpse of the heartfelt tributes shared across our homes.
My Choice Healthcare is proud to stand with our residents in remembering this historic day, and we thank all staff who helped make these commemorations so special.
