With people at the heart of the organisation, the HR team is committed to supporting our staff, strengthening workplace culture, and driving continuous improvement across all of our local teams.

Julia Allen
Human Resources Manager
Julia Allen is the Human Resources Manager, with responsibility for the HR Function. With 30 years of experience in HR, Julia is a CIPD qualified professional who has worked in the private and public sectors in various roles.
Julia has spent the last 20 years holding key roles within local government and has a wealth of knowledge supporting the care sector. With a proven track record in workforce planning, recruitment, reward and organisational staff development, Julia's skills have a strong focus on enabling staff to perform at their best.
Having completed a ILM Level 5 in Coaching, she is able to use these skills in her management style. Julia is passionate about the value people bring to an organisation and firmly believes that engaged, supported employees are central to achieving long term success.

Richard Shelton
Learning & Development Manager
Richard has over 15 years of experience in the social care sector, beginning his career as a domiciliary care worker in the Cardiff area. His ambition and commitment to professional development led him into Human Resources, where he achieved the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) Level 3 qualification. He then progressed into Learning and Development, working with a range of private training providers to deliver mandatory and statutory healthcare training.
Before joining My Choice Healthcare, Richard worked for two of the UK's largest care providers, where he gained extensive experience in delivering high-quality care and supporting services to achieve and maintain the highest standards required by healthcare regulators.
Committed to continuous professional development, Richard has further enhanced his expertise by achieving qualifications in Education and Training Level 3, TAQA, and the Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training.
Richard's approach to teaching is centred on creating engaging, interactive, and enjoyable learning experiences that help learners retain knowledge and confidently apply it in practice. He is passionate about equipping healthcare professionals with the skills and confidence to deliver safe, effective, and person-centred care, recognising that high-quality training directly contributes to residents living happier, healthier, and more fulfilling lives.
Richard is excited to continue strengthening Learning and Development at My Choice Healthcare by embedding a structured, high-quality training culture. His goal is to raise standards across the organisation, positively impacting residents, their families, colleagues, and all stakeholders while supporting a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.

Catrin is a Human Resources Adviser at My Choice Healthcare, supporting managers and teams across the organisation with day-to-day people matters. CIPD Level 5 qualified, she provides practical HR advice across the full employee lifecycle, helping to ensure fair, consistent and compassionate people practices that support high-quality care.
In her role, Catrin works closely with care homes and services to support recruitment and onboarding, employee relations, workforce planning, compliance and staff wellbeing. She acts as a first point of contact for HR queries, offering guidance aligned with company policies, sector regulations and best practice, while promoting a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
Catrin values collaboration and is passionate about supporting colleagues, recognising the importance of an engaged workforce in delivering person-centred care. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time outdoors on long walks and reading.
As HR and Recruitment Administrator, Kor is responsible for managing end-to-end recruitment across all roles within our care homes. She oversees onboarding, compliance checks, and contract preparation, ensuring a smooth, efficient, and fully compliant hiring process.
With four years of hands-on care experience across neuropsychiatric, palliative, dementia, and learning disability settings combined with four years in recruitment and compliance Kor brings both frontline understanding and back-office expertise to her role. Having previously managed VIP services for a global recruitment company and worked in compliance for a specialist nursing agency, she is passionate about raising standards in care recruitment.
Kor is committed to ensuring our candidates are supported every step of the way and that the people we care for are looked after by compassionate, skilled professionals. Outside of work, she enjoys being creative and has a keen interest in skincare.
