Harewood Park introduces new self-contained lodge to help residents progress to more independent living.
Harewood Park has built a revolutionary new lodge in its grounds to help residents progress towards more independent living.
Acquired by My Choice Healthcare in 2019, Harewood Park is a nursing home dedicated to supporting adults with mental health conditions, mild learning disabilities and brain injuries.
Able to support 37 adults at one time, with the premises is divided into two parts - the main house and cottages.
While residents with more complex needs reside in the main house, the cottages have been designed to support those who aspire to move onto independent living within their community, with a focus on more 'life skills', such as cooking, cleaning, shopping, self-medicating, managing personal finances, securing voluntary work, attending college courses and more.
Recognising that residents can often find it challenging to move straight from the support of Harewood Park cottages to independent living in the community, My Choice Healthcare have invested in the development of a new self-contained lodge to facilitate a more gradual process towards independent living.
With its own bedroom, bathroom, living room and kitchen, the self-contained lodge is designed to better support people, within a staged process, to achieve a more independent lifestyle.
Bethan Evans, CEO of My Choice Healthcare, confirmed: "Harewood Park is an excellent example of where our team members work tirelessly to deliver holistic care to suit all resident needs; providing an individually tailored pathway of care. Many of our residents aspire to move on to live in their own homes or supported living schemes within the community, however some do struggle with this change and require more guidance and support.
To bridge this gap, we have introduced the new self-contained lodge to make the transition to independent living as smooth and successful as possible and are delighted with the positive feedback received so far from the development of our first lodge - from local and industry professionals alike.
As such, we are now planning to introduce more self-contained lodges on site and aim to have a further 2 available to residents by the close of 2025."
Founded by friends Craig Sheppard and Neil Askew in 2019, My Choice Healthcare provides exceptional care through high-quality accommodation within residential/nursing homes for older people and vulnerable adults across South Wales and the West Midlands.
Established in 1986 as a nursing care home, Harewood Park is located in the heart of Staffordshire in the tranquil village of Cheadle.
